26th September, 2014: Global real estate company, Cushman & Wakefield, has been named as winners of the prestigious Groundbreaker of the Year and Cross-border Leasing Deal of the Year awards at the inaugural AsiaProperty Awards 2014 held in Hong Kong on 25th September.

Sanjay Verma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Asia Pacific said, “This is a proud moment for C&W as it is recognition from the real estate industry of the innovation-led approach we take to pushing boundaries. It’s also a testament to the culture of collaboration that is core to our DNA. We are fortunate to have some of the best minds in the real estate industry working together for us across the regions and creating success for our clients.”

The Groundbreaker of the Year award is awarded to a real estate consulting firm pushing the conventional boundaries to succeed in uncharted territory. Cushman & Wakefield won this award for their alliance with NIPPON REIT, which was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange through an IPO, to provide asset management services for its portfolio. This was a ground breaking move for Cushman & Wakefield and a part of the firm’s strategy to leverage this new business opportunity to further enhance their market position and to continue the momentum of expansion and growth of asset management and the Capital Markets business in Asia Pacific. Cushman & Wakefield will also look to provide investment sales and leasing services for the REIT.

The Cross-border Leasing Deal of the Year award recognises the achievements in the Asia Pacific real estate occupier market, in the scale, innovation in lease structuring, bringing new occupiers into a location and speed of execution. Cushman & Wakefield received the award for the transaction completed for a client in Mumbai. This transaction is a perfect example of cross border collaboration between teams from across USA and India with multiple teams from the occupier, landlord and services provider aligned to help achieve the business goals from a long term perspective.
